Her local knowledge and language skills allowed me to experience things I would never have found in a travel guide. She tailored the itinerary to my interests but was flexible throughout the trip, allowing me add additional experiences as they presented. Her relaxed approach meant I never felt uncomfortable or stressed, despite not speaking the language. Gabrielle provided me with a truly unique experience that I would recommend to anyone wishing to visit Japan!” - Satisfied participantThe snow-capped rocky peak Mount Kailash 6714m, is considered a holy abode of supreme Hindu god Lord Shiva, who sits at the summit with his consort Parvati, . According to Hinduism, Lord Shiva, the Destroyer [of evil], resides at the summit of a legendary mountain named Kailāsa, where he sits in a state of perpetual meditation along with his wife Pārvatī, otherwise known as the daughter of the Himalayas. He is at once the Lord of Yoga and therefore the ultimate renunciate ascetic, yet he is also the divine master of Tantra.[7] Kailash is a symbol of Shiva's power symbol OM.The 'Parikrama', or journey around the base, of Mount Kailash, is said to wipe out a whole lifetime of accrued sins and many people report that they feel renewed or changed for the better after undertaking this spiritual journey. Kailash Mansarovar Yatra (journey). The path around Mount Kailash is 52 km (32 mi) long.Bathing in the lake and drinking in its water is a purifying process for Hindus and a way of reaching the Brahma's paradise. Just one drop of water from the serenely beautiful Manasarovar is said to set one free from the contaminations of the poisonous world.Tibet, an autonomous region of China and a sacred home to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake, is a famous pilgrimage destination for the devotees of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bon religions and an epitome of beauty and awe to the rest of the world. Circumambulating Mount Kailash on foot is a holy ritual that will bring good fortune,It is also believed to be a place where founders of Tibetan Buddhism, Jainism and Bonpo religions once resided. Hindus and Buddhists all over the world also worship this peak as the exact “center of the Universe”. Buddhists call Kailash the "Precious Jewel' peak and they, too, make many circumambulations in order to achieve enlightenment. For Jains it is where their first leader was enlightened; for Buddhists, the navel of the universe; and for adherents of Bon, the abode of the sky goddess Sipaimen."[5]Below Mt. Kailash lies the most sacred Lake of Hindus - Mansarovar (4580m). This Lake is so gigantic that it takes three full days to just go round its peripheries. One dip into the cold water of this holy Lake is believed to free the soul of all its sins, thus carving a straight path to heaven after death. Ancient Hindu scriptures indicate this Lake as a must visit place for someone who wants to attain salvation - the highest level of achievement in Hindu religion. The Tibetan name for the mountain is Gangs Rin-po-che. Gangs or Kang is the Tibetan word for snow peak analogous to alp or hima; rinpoche is an honorific meaning "precious one" so the combined term can be translated "precious jewel of snows".Additionally, the great lakes Manasarovar and Rakshas Tal which lie in the shadow of Kailash, are also manifestations of aspects of the Hindu religion and symbolize the water tanks at the entrance to every Hindu temple. Manasarovar, shaped like the sun and therefore symbolizing the light, is believed to be the lake formed in the mind of God, created to show the omnipotence of the mind of Brahma.Rakshas Tal, is more moon-like in shape and has come to be connected with the dark and with demonic forces. This whole area resonates with very deep mythical and religious vibrations and even agnostics cannot remain unmoved by the atmosphere, discovering a greater sense of equanimity by gazing upon this utterly serene landscape.According to all religions that revere the mountain, setting foot on its slopes is a dire sin. It is a popular belief that the stairways on Mount Kailash lead to heaven.A journey to the Mount Kailash area is truly an experience of a lifetime - dare to dream! Tips for Kailash Yatra from Ravi Kumar BhattaraiWarm clothes are a must to fight the frosty cold. So we advise to carry thermal wears, wind proof jackets, woolen socks, gloves, warm hat and scarves, monkey cap, comfortable walking shoes, dust masks, sun hat and sufficient number of changing clothes. Likewise we suggest you to pack up toilet tissue papers, torch light, sunscreen lotion, sun glasses, walking sticks etc. While touring we will provide you all main meals which are hygiene and totally vegetarian. With meals we offer you tea, coffee, juice and drinking chocolate. All the food are prepared by our trained cook and are served hot however in some occasions specially while travelling packed lunch will be provided to reach the next camp on time. Mineral water will be provided at every camp to refill your drinking water bottle. Our itinerary is set on slow pace hike to acclimatize enabling you to enjoy the best. But as this trips climbs above 3000 m, you may suffer from altitude sickness. To our experience most of the travelers once they are acclimatized rarely suffer. It is advised for all travelers to drink approximately 3 liters of water everyday to be safe from mountain sickness. Our tour staffs only carry first aid medical kit. Therefore you are advised to take sufficient stock of medicines that you have been taking and prescribed by your doctor. (above map taken from free online image stock)
